Pambula Beach

Broken Oar – at the caravan park. This serves the best take away fish and chips going around (better than anything you’ll find in Pambula township and cheaper/more convenient than driving all the way to Wheelers.

The Broken Oar also has a restaurant with an outdoor deck. Book if you’re there in peak times.

Coffee22 at 22Toallo has magnificent Fijian mild curries. Highly recommended as of October 2017. Cold drop coffee and New York cheesecakes too.

Big news 2018, apparently the best restaurant on the south coast, Zanzibar, is re opening in Pambula town!!!! No kids.

Wild Rye’s Bakery – good coffee, very good pies and sourdough bread, can order family pies. The seafood mornay pie is their best, the fruit bread is first class and the rye bread has ground caraway in it.

Oaklands on the road between Pambula and South Pambula. http://www.oaklandsbarn.com http://w3w.co/guavas.vintages.beside This is a really interesting example of a single owner bringing various businesses together into a semi coherent whole. There is a nursery and garden shop, art gallery, cafe, petting zoo and now a micro brewery called longstocking. You can drive to Panboola sanctuary and then walk the last kilometer to Oaklands to earn your repast.

Covingtons,  http://www.covingtons.com.au/ – Thai, lots of space for the kids to run around. It was closed but re opened in 2016.

Wheelers Oysters (near airport), http://www.wheelersoysters.com.au/ – $$$, seafood including their famous and completely over the top seafood platter.

Golf Club, http://www.merimbulagolf.com.au/ –views of kangaroos over golf course. A bit of a barn but live music in summer and quick, large meals. You can order a minibus to pick you up and drop you off for free, the guests and the trip can be an event in themselves.

Vicolo http://www.vicolomerimbula.com.au/ – Italian, specials on Tuesday – book a table in advance.

Zanzibar Café http://www.zanzibarmerimbula.com.au/ – the best restaurant in the district. $$$ – not suitable for kids. Closed 2017, boo.

Santa Fe http://www.santafemerimbula.com.au/  – Mexican, great views and average food, not terrible but nothing to write home about.

Merimbula Aquarium http://www.merimbulawharf.com.au/  – great view

Waterfront Café http://www.thewaterfrontcafe.net.au/ – next to fenced playground.

across the road from the waterfront is a new place in 2017, the outdoor area and the coffee are good.

Cantina – Spanish food, pianist some evenings and good paella specials.

Sprout – organic, health food cafe
